Report identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission online or call 877-ID-THEFT (877-438-4338).
Take a copy of your FTC Identity Theft Affidavit, a photo ID, proof of address, and any evidence you have of the theft and file a report with local law enforcement.
Place a credit freeze on your profile with the credit bureaus, making it harder for someone to open new accounts in your name.
Enroll in credit monitoring by visiting www.annualcreditreport.com or calling 877-322-8228.
Check your credit reports for any new accounts you don't recognize.
