After more than 16 years at Marne Bank, Georgia Irish will be retiring in a few weeks. We couldn’t let her leave without some fanfare and recognition for many years of commitment and service.

When did you join Marine Bank? I came aboard just before the holidays on December 21, 2006. They learned how much I loved Christmas from the beginning!

What do you like best about Marine Bank? I love that we are local. We have a board made up of people who helped to build our community. They know our community and encourage us to do our best work in the community whether volunteering, serving on a board, or participating in event. Our community involvement has kept us very fun and extremely creative!

What do you like best about your role at the bank?  Over the years, even when things were hard, I have always been able to represent the bank proudly and confidently. I’ve had the good fortune of working with great role models and becoming one myself. We are a team!

Favorite accomplishment during your Marine Bank career?  I have several, but making so many friends and helping people connect to other good people has been very rewarding.

I was very honored to have been nominated not once, but twice for Woman of the Year.  I had the opportunity to be a part of Women’s Build for Habitat for Humanity and building a new house for a deserving family.  I designed and developed so many different events like The Beatles Event on 14th Avenue, Tropical Night in Paradise at the Heritage center, The Treasure Nights Trunk Show at Riverside Theatre, the Shopping Cart parades for harvest Food Outreach, Dancing with the Vero Stars, the Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day Parades the Bank participated in, our Taste of Vero booths. They all put a smile on my face.

What will you miss the most about the bank?  All my friends, relationships, and opportunities I’ve had down through the years. It’s been amazing.  I have enjoyed the many boards I have been on throughout the years! I have loved sharing my time, talents, and treasures.

What are your retirement plans?  First, we’re going back home to Erie, Pennsylvania to spend time with our grandchildren and create memories with them. Then some travel is in our future. We plan to be snowbirds and come back to our beautiful condo here in Vero and enjoy all the things we’ve wanted to do on our time.
