About the Marine

The Area’s Only Independent Community Bank

Marine Bank & Trust is the only locally owned, independent bank in Indian River County. With assets in excess $156 million, Marine offers a full menu of deposit accounts, loan products and financial services to individuals and businesses.

As a locally owned and operated financial institution, decisions are made at Marine’s two offices here in Vero Beach.  As a true community bank, the success of Marine is closely tied to the success of the community, its residents and its businesses.  All Marine employees live in the local area and all the Marine directors are actively involved in helping the Indian River County community grow and prosper.

Mission Statement

Marine will become the “Bank of Choice” for individuals and businesses in Indian River County, emphasizing our position as the only independent community bank.  Our team of trained professionals will meet the individual needs of our customers by providing excellent personal service and competitive products.  We are dedicated to the growth and development of our employees and to providing a fair return to our shareholders.

Our History

Founded by George R. Slater, a 30-plus year veteran of the banking industry,  Marine Bank & Trust Company opened our doors on Beachland Boulevard on July 1, 1997 with Mr. Slater serving as Chairman and CEO.

We focused our efforts on serving the growing needs of small businesses and residents throughout Indian River County.  As part of this focus, we continue to add new products to our financial offering, such as free business & personal checking accounts, free online banking with bill pay, and merchant capture.  All of this is done while maintaining the high caliber of personal service that is the hallmark of our bank.

In September 2003, the Board of Directors elected C. Andrew Lawrence as the new President and CEO.  In June 2005, we opened a branch location on U.S. 1 in Vero Beach, which allowed us to better serve our growing customer base on the mainland. Also in 2005, we formed Marine Financial & Insurance Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the bank. The primary focus of this new division was to develop wealth management strategies for our customer base. This division evolved into Marine Investment Services Group, Inc. in 2008, offering a wider range of investment products including stocks, bonds and mutual funds, along with life insurance and annuity products. The securities are offered through Century Securities Associates, Inc.

Marine Bank continues to thrive, offering our local residents and business owners personalized service that can only be provided by a financial institution that is locally owned and operated. From day one all of the decisions affecting our customers have been made right here in Vero Beach, and in spite of local, national and global financial changes over the years, those decisions remain right here at home. We will continue to evaluate new products and services that help meet the changing needs of our customers and make doing business with us easier and more pleasurable than ever.
